Males at a Woman's Beck and Call? Robin Pope Cain

We’ve Come a Long Way, Ladies…
As a columnist and novelist, I find myself constantly searching for new topics and stories. It isn’t an easy
task, but the writer in me somehow manages to find my muse and come up with stories on a regular
basis. Some days are easier than others. Point in fact: my latest column in The Examiner about a town in
Nevada that has gotten the go-ahead from the state to make male prostitution legal. Legal since 1971 in
certain rural areas of the state, the prostitution trade at The Shady Lady Ranch will now have male
prostitutes.
As a woman, and a fairly liberal one at that, this bit of news caught my attention. And based on the
numerous responses from readers, it obviously caught the attention of a great many others as well. This
being the “Romance In The Back Seat” blog, it would strike me as a perfect fit to discuss the topic at
greater length.
What woman hasn’t fantasized about a man being at her sexual beck and call? Don’t all women crave
that man who will do whatever we want? And let’s not forget the “whenever we want” part of that
equation. I will stick my neck out here and say that it’s likely every woman dreams of the “Here Just For
Your pleasure Man”. That is not to say we haven’t had him at one time or another in our lives, but…on
call? Whenever or wherever we want? Not consistently and certainly likely not always.
The idea of a male prostitute in Nevada probably doesn’t fit the image of that muscular, hunky, dark,
mysterious man of one’s dreams (though I don’t know that for certain and certainly never will), but isn’t
it nice to know that such a thing could possibly exist?
For years, men (if they desired) could plunk down money and have a woman of their choice do whatever
they wanted. It’s all about getting certain needs met. It’s a fact that there are people out there who
want a completely meaningless no-strings-attached, yet satisfying romp in the hay. Isn’t it time women
had that option?
One of the male responses to my column was, “Since when does any woman have to pay for sex?” That
is certainly true if a woman wants to hook up with just anyone, but many don’t. The prospect of
suffering through the bar scene or meeting up with a potential psycho isn’t attractive (not to mention
the potential risk of contracting STD’s). Prostitution in Nevada will be regulated and controlled; the
same can’t be said for the chance encounter.
Though I cannot imagine many women partaking in this no-longer-forbidden fruit, I have to assume
there will be some that do. The new version of the Bachelorette party? A gift for a friend going through
a dry spell? Or the inquisitive liberal woman looking for a new form of pleasure? Who can say? In the
meantime, the rest of us have our Romance novels and, after all, isn’t that why Romance novels were
first written in the first place?

I just hope there's some kind of skill level test. LOL. I'm all for it! Not that I'd use the service (the hubby would get pretty ticked off...LOL) but we're all about equal opportunities and I know a few women who would like the option. I'm betting their main clients though will be other men.

Robin,

I am with you on this one...equal rights!!!! :-)

Seriously though, as a full time bachelor for nearly a decade now, I live by this rule as well. I want to "have my cake and eat it too" in the terms of doing whatever I want when I want and yet have an intimate relationship in my life. It is not surprising to find more and more women these days who feel the same.

I think that the older I get the more set in my ways and less accomodating I get. Therefore it is difficult for me to focus my life around someone else, so therefore I stick to what I know...having a good time. I have my life, and choose to share a portion of time engaging in one of my favorite activities and not deal with arguing over why I left the toilet seat up (again)

So, I am all for this program, but I would feel bad taking money from a lady...

:-)

I don't think the woman interested in this 'service' would mind a bit to fork over the money to get what she wanted. Just saying...

Im with Robin on this one, and Lauren, there better be a test, a tryout of sorts, then you can pick from the first or second string. LOL, just a thought.
