Darren Michaels Interview - Part 2

Hello All,
Darren Michaels is in the Backseat!

I would like to welcome an unusual occurance to the Backseat. A BOY! Well I am not lucky enough to get too many of them. Mr Darren Michaels welcome and please share with us about your fascinatingly reversable book Flipside Erotica.

TERRY KATE: Was the flipable book your idea?

DARREN MICHAELS: Yes, well I can't take all the credit, I have a muse or 2 that help me out with ideas and I run my stories by them, but the flipable book was my idea. I wanted the name and the book to be interactive and unique. Hence the name, "Flipside Erotica" because you flip the book from one side to another to read, and you can read either side of the story.

TK: So how have the ladies been treating you?

DM: Haha. How did I know that question was coming? I do okay. I do pretty well, I dont look like Igor that tends to help, and I recently learned to manscape; is that the right word?

TK: It is a well... ocean of estrogen in this field.

flipside.erotica: LOL Very VERY true. That's one of the reason I wanted to write this book.  I wanted to show what guys think, and what guys think WOMEN think. I have a blog about that, the misconceptions between what we think and what we actually think from both sexes. It's AMAZING!
TK: So you are not claiming to know what women think?

DM: HA NO!

TK: We just get to read what you think women think?

DM: If anything this process has taught me how little I know about how women think. You get to read what I have LEARNED women think. I am very fortunate to have some great female friends who are very honest with me and they read what I write and are some of the best critique partners anyone could have. So when and if I go off the rails they give me a swift kick.

TK: I hope the kick is well aimed

DM: I don't claim to know what women think any more than any female writers claim to know what men think.

TK: So what got you the swiftest kick in the rear? What did the ladies think was your biggest mistake?

DM: Hmmm. Great question. The most memorable kick was on the second volume of the book which I'm working on now. I was having difficulty with a scene, and a great friend told me that something Men think is important women couldn't care less about.

TK: Yes...

DM: She said, "You men think that's all that counts, when really, it's nothing compared to everything else, thats why we have to train each and everyone of you. We have to re-train you every time. The first time we're with you is really just a tutorial." My mouth about hit the floor. Here she was telling me that everything Men think about sex is really just wrong and that Women "tutor" us. And have to re-train us to their satisfaction. After awhile I understood where she was coming from and the story she helped with was one of the best in the book in my opinion.

Darren Micheals Interview - Part 3

Part three with Sexy Author Darren Micheals...

TERRY KATE: What makes your books Erotica and not Erotic Romance?

DARREN MICHAELS: Mainly the fact that they are one encounter stories. There's not a build up of the relationship in the beginning or a continuation of the relationship.

TK: What do you feel the difference is?

DM: I think that is the difference, Erotica is about the act, where as erotic romance is about the relationship and the act and what the act means in the relationship, there is a build up to it and a continuation after it.

TK: Why not Romance? What attracts you to the moment - the encounter, why not go further?

DM: Why don't I write romance?

TK: Yes why?

DM: I am in the process of trying to write an erotic romance but when I have tried in the past, the result has not been as intended. I really wanted to write a book like this of just encounters from both perspectives. I'm working on a series of stories with the same theme from both perspectives that are longer than these stories but still erotic romance and not just romance. I like the edge that erotic romance brings to the story.

TK: So stories without the naughty parts... not really working for you?

DM: LOL, I like stories without the naughty parts, I just think that if you leave out the sex, you're leaving out an integral part of any relationship. I like writing the naughty parts, it's fun.

TK: So what is the feed back been like?

DM: Amazing! Many women are buying the book to read with their partners. Reading it together or reading it apart and then talking about it. I was told that it was a great Valentines day or anniversary gift. It is something both partners can share.

TK: Have you done any signings?

DM: I have done one, but I have a very conservative day job right now, so its a little difficult to do an erotica signing on the weekend and then go back to work Monday morning at my very conservative company. And people can always get in contact with me and send me the books to sign and send back to them.

TK: So what is this conservative job?

DM: Ha ha, I'm going to chose not to answer that, sorry. Have to keep the job that pays the bills until I hit that NYTimes Bestseller list.

TK: Hmmm... now what could it be... I guess we will just have to sit and wonder. Any deep dark secrets you got that you are willing to confess to? Stuffed bunny colection? Watch Glee on Wednesday nights?

DM: hmmmm... Actually yes to the later. GREAT show! Can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the season, and Community is hilarious as well.
And I do not have a stuffed bunny collection. Thank you. Now that I've confessed to watching Glee I think I feel a little lighter inside.

TK: Well I'm glad I could help.
DM: LOL I think I have just had a breakthrough.

TK: Well I do my best. Thank you so much for the ride in the Backseat. Maybe some day I can interview you on video. You can wear a mask. Everyone loves a secret super hero!

DM: LOL Thank you for having me I certainly hope I get to do this interview in the backseat one day and for you, I'll take off the mask.
Thank you again

Confessions of a Recent Slash Addict - Adrianne Brennan

I have a confession to make: I am one of many women who didn't understand the appeal of slash for a very, very long time. Comprehending what was hot about watching two men go at it was beyond me. Slash between two women I’ve always found hot, but never got into erotic romance novels between two men.

It actually was not until my favorite fandom pairing arose that I "got" it: it's really about two men whom you find to be hot and whose chemistry you find to be hot that makes it work. It's also about that lovely, perhaps-only-slightly-subconscious desire to be the filling in that sandwich. It is my belief that this is why m/m erotic romance sells well with women who want to appreciate men’s bodies and sexuality and find it to be a turn on.

The genre of m/m erotic romance had gone mainstream recently, and I blame it on the British sci-fi television show known as Torchwood. Its pairing of two of the main characters, Captain Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones, have sold the show for many people who may have never watched it. I personally got into the show because I am a fan of the original show it spun off from, which is Doctor Who. Torchwood broke through a lot of boundaries for the GLBT world with its loose boundaries and definitions of sexuality with its omnisexual main character, Jack.

Often times my writing is inspired by what I read and watch on television, and I write what I consider to be “gender blind” characters for the most part. So far, my books have featured m/f, f/f, f/f/f, f/f/m, m/m, and m/f/m pairings. My scifi/paranormal erotic romance book Dawn of the Seraphs is my entry into the wide, wonderful world of m/m and it definitely won’t be my last! :D
Readers and writers, feel free to sound off! Are you a fan of the m/m genre and if so, why? Do you have any preferences as to associated genres? Do you prefer m/m paranormals, historicals, contemporary?

In the Backseat with Erotic Author Missy Martine

Terry Kate: I would like to welcome a lovely lady Missy Martine to the Backseat whose name has one of my favorite things - alliteration - now you tell me Missy - is that your real name?

Missy Martine: No, that's a name my husband dreamed up when I started writing. It's actually a take-off on my married and maiden names.

TK: Ah fun to get some input - it is a neat thing about being an author, you often get to pick your own name!

MM: Yes, it's even better if you begin to write in different genre, because you're free to pick several different names to go with your different artistic talents. It's something I'm thinking of doing since I'm working on a thriller novel that probably won't appeal to romance readers.

TK: So you write the Hot, Hot, Hot, stuff, was that your intention when you started writing, or did it just come out?

MM: It was pretty much my intention. I'd been reading really erotic romance novels for years. I'd always enjoyed the effect they had on me. My husband once told me that he could always tell when I read a new one because the romance in our life picked up, and I was always in a happier mood. I found that they helped feed my fantasy life which in turned, helped improve my romantic life. It was my hope, that my books would fuel other people's fantasies and desires.

TK: So tell us a little about this tale?

MM: "Table for Three" is about a woman who spent twenty years married to an abusive man. She'd never had the courage to leave him. Then, something fateful happened which gave her the chance to escape and make a life for herself. She inherits a house and small inheritance from an uncle she never knew, and promptly heads off to Oregon to claim it. She figures it's a chance for her to start her life over. What she doesn't expect is another chance at love. She meets the twin brothers that own the local hardware store and can't believe these two sexy men are staking a claim on her. At the same time, she is fighting to hold onto her inheritance, not realizing that her uncle's lawyer is crooked, and wanting the inheritance himself. She has to decide if she's willing to give her heart to the two men, no matter what society says about their relationship.

TK: Twins?

MM: Yes, sexy, hot, identical twin men....yum...at least it's one of my fantasies!

TK: That is a little different from some of the other menages on the market.

MM: In some ways I think it's considered even more taboo than just a menage. Don't get me wrong, the twins don't have anything to do with each other, their romantic focus is entirely on the heroine of the book. From the feedback I've received, a lot of people are turned on by the thought of the identical twins. Just imagine, having just a little bit of difficulty telling them apart, not sure who's doing what at any given time. It just fuels the imagination to imagine being surrounded by all that testosterone!

TK: Is it hard for your heroine to come to grips with a situation so outside the "norm"?

MM: It's very hard for her. She spent twenty years with a man who verbally, emotionally and physically abused her. She had never known what true love was. She knows that they make her feel things that she's never felt before, but at the same time she's getting the feeling that she will never be accepted in this small town if she does something so far out of the norm. True love can be a wonderful feeling, but few people could stand day to day life if they were constantly worried about what others around them were saying about their lifestyle. Cass not only has to accept their love, but she has to accept that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks in order for them to be happy together.

TK: So if they look alike does that mean they are as different as day and night?

MM: Yes, the men have very different personalities. One of them is very secure in what he thinks and what he wants, while the other is more cautious, more hesitant to bring a woman into a menage relationship. They've both been married and divorced, but had very different reasons for their marriages failing. One is very forceful in his lovemaking, while the other is more gentle and romantic. It's like having the best of both worlds. Like a lot of identical twins, they've always had a type of psychic bond that allowed them to feel what the other was feeling. This bond is what drives them back together in an effort to find one woman who will love them both. Once she starts falling for them, Cass has no problems telling them apart.

TK: Woowoo!  I must say that sounds like something that would raise any ladies temperature!

MM: That was what I was hoping for :)

TK: When can we get our hands on it!

MM: You can get your hands on it today at Siren/Bookstrand. You can go to my website, www.missymartine.com and there's a link that will take you right to it.

TK: Thanks so much for hopping into the Backseat even if you did not bring any hunky twin eye candy.

MM: Well thanks for having me Terry. I've enjoyed talking with you, and telling you all about my new release.

All I Want and More - An Interview with Cecile

Now not to sure how it happened but one day I came across the most fabulous blog All I Want and More, and made the most fabulous friend.  The internet does make magic.
She sat down with me from about 1,500 miles away and did a little interview - See what goes on in the mind of a reviewer.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Backseat Cecile. I want to share with everyone about your terrific blog.
Dish out your dirty secrets!
All I Want And More: Oh I am loving this up... this is going to be good.
Okay, a little about my blog...
Well, My new name is Ms. Cecile Smutty Hussy... I am a hussy at heart. So, my blog is full of romance and smutty men that take my heart away!
TK: Where did the All I Want and More come from?
All: When I started blogging, I noticed that every one had this cute catchy titles. And the more I started thinking about what I wanted to call my little place... it hit me "all i want and more..." is what I want from my books.
And it stuck with me. The more I thought about a title, that one just stayed with me.
TK: So I hear you like the burn your tongue, salsa hot books, with less then ordinary heros?  What is the appeal?
All: OMG... My Sex On A Stick Men!!! They are something else. They are tortured beyond comprehension from the regular male. They are not too cocky, but very sure of themselves. They know what they want out and in a woman, but know how to be gentle enough about it. They live with all they have, they love with every fiber in them and they fight just as hard. They are convicted by their morals and values. Sometimes, they are a bit rough around the edges, but it takes a woman to make them melt. And they come in all shapes and sizes... And.... *cough cough* All sorts of bodies... Pure male, pure alpha, vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter... I love them all!
TK: Oh my, I think you are steaming up the back windows all on your own.
All: Lmao... Tell me about it, my doctor wants to put me on high blood pressure medicine and medication for hot flashes, lmao!
She just doesn't understand it is all about my men!
TK: So we all like to read about alpha males, write about alpha males, fantasize about alpha males, but very very few of us want to live with one.
All: LMAO... I just say, "Bring it on!" I live with one everyday... So, my fantasy man needs to be just as Alpha, just as Male and just as sexy!
TK: Are you married to a shapshifting Vampire or something?
All: Well, after this past weekend (daughter's costume party) I believe I live with a Vampire. He is always trying to bite me ~ so I think he is a vampire. And besides, he sees my lust after Edward... So, he knows he has competition. (**whisphers, just don't tell me him that, lol**)
TK: So I have heard it said you like a bit of man meat on the cover of you naughty novels, well all your novels really.
All: Oh my.. *Blushes* Yea, I am a cover hussy. I love to see a hot guy on the cover. I love the whole package picture, but I will take the face cut off (even though I am not a big fan of those... give me something...) And I am hearing that the back of these men is the new "in" thing. Just give me some skin. I am not excluding women either... Give me a cover with a hot guy... in a romantic post with a cute girl and yea, I will buy that one too... But I love my men!
TK: Well Cecile thank you for sharing your deep dark secrets here today!
All: You are more than welcome! I love being in the backseat *wink wink*!
TK: Naughty naughty blogger you!
I am scandalized!
All: Naughty is the new nice! LOL!!!

Lissa Matthews Guest Blogs

Tagline: Desire: Blend sinful with sweet. Whip to perfection. Don't forget to lick the spoon...

I am excited about my new Samhain Publishing release Pink Buttercream Frosting. Sounds very decadent, doesn't it? It's a little naughty, too. But then, there's nothing wrong with that, is there?

Inspired by it's namesake, pink buttercream frosting and the most delicious scented lotion by the very same name, this book brings together the world of BDSM and the warm fragrance of vanilla and cream, sure to heat you up in one way or the other.

Here's the blurb:

Aidn Greer is a much-sought-after Dominant in the BDSM lifestyle with an unusual problem. He hasn’t owned a submissive in more years than he cares to think about. He’s bored with unchallenging women, yet mentoring other Doms and training subs has left him cold as well. He’s craving something other than plain old vanilla—a taste of something sinfully sweet that, for once, he can really sink his teeth into.
Professional cake baker Bailey Harris wasted ten years bored to tears with her marriage, enduring a job she hated, and harboring a secret desire for something passionate, fulfilling and dark. Then she found it…in the world of BDSM. Exploring on her own brought the kind of mind-opening experiences that led her to declare her independence—and exposed a yearning to find the one Dom for whom she’s willing to kneel. Permanently.
When Aidn and Bailey meet, it’s fire and ice. Sugar and spice. And an experience that satisfies every detail of both their fantasies. Almost. While the big, beautiful sub is everything Aidn wanted, her fierce independent streak could be more of a challenge than he bargained for…
Warning: This book brings together scorching-hot counter sex, decadent pink frosting, and no-holds-barred BDSM play for a spanking good time. Be sure to bring an ice-cold drink along…
I hope you'll take a peek, read the excerpt on the website and give it a try!

What’s Your Ultimate Sexual Fantasy? - Stephanie Julian

What’s your ultimate sexual fantasy?
No, don’t answer right away. Think about it for a few minutes.
Let it roll around in your brain and gather steam.
Why? Because the question begs some internal discussion.
How far are you willing to go to fulfill it? And when you do, what’s next?
Maybe some fantasies are better when they remain just that. There’s no let-down, no regrets, no recriminations.
That’s why I love writing erotic romance. Because those ultimate sexual scenarios that tie your brain in knots when presented with reality are the perfect way to spend a few hours wrapped in a book.
When I conceived of the Magical Seduction series, I knew I wanted to explore as many erotic situations as possible. My first six stories are straight male/female, the bread and butter of romance.
But for the seventh, I wanted that ultimate sexual fantasy.
So a ménage was definitely in the cards.
As a reader, I love the fantasy presented by ménage. Two (or more) hot guys dedicated to the pleasure of one woman, how could that be bad?
In “Seduced by Two,” Nica Donato meets Tanner and Jensen Miller and, though she doesn’t realize at first what’s in store for her, she embraces the adventure. And the brothers.
As a strega, an Etruscan witch, Nica is a descendent of the once-mighty Etruscan magical civilization. She controls a powerful magic that must be kept hidden from the non-magical world. She’s also about to take her mother’s place in their boschetta (coven) and give up all notion of a normal life.
When she walks into that bar, she’s looking for a release, an escape. And finds the ultimate pleasure and the ultimate romance with two men.
That meant two hot heroes for me to create. Two strong men with very different personalities, both of whom need compelling reasons to share the same woman.
For me, a ménage is like a teeter-totter, with a man on either side and a woman balancing in the middle. It’s quite a ride when you get all the logistics worked out.
And an ultimate fantasy.
So what’s yours?

Stephanie Julian is the author of the Magical Seduction series, beginning with Seduced by Magic and continuing with Seduced by Two, available from Ellora’s Cave. She’s a writer with a reading problem, though some days, it’s the other way around. Her series has gotten great reviews, which you can see on her website at  www.stephaniejulian.com
