Santa's Shop

Santa's Shop -
A Naughty Free Read by Cecile Hussy
You Must be 18 or older to read this Story

Dear Santa,
I have been a good girl. I work at my job, day in, day out, without complaint. I volunteer my time at the animal shelter. I even take my niece and nephew out for ice cream once a month. Date night for my sister and her husband. All I want for Christmas is the man of my dreams. Tall, handsome, dark hair, blue eyes, gorgeous smile, funny, loving, tender, and caring. Someone who makes me laugh and laughs with me. Someone who will make me feel alive and loved. Someone who will love me with passion and make all of my wildest, sexiest dreams come true. Is that too much to ask for?
With love, hope and lots of prayers.
Layla

I was giving it a shot in the dark. It was date night for my sister and her husband; I had Lexie and Matthew.  It is that time of the year when kids are writing letters to Santa and Lexie asked me to write one too. I figured why not, what is the harm in writing one. No one will ever see it. I put it out there for old Saint Nick to see what I truly wanted for Christmas. As soon as we finished, we sealed them up, addressed them with the proper address and put them on the counter. Okay, I might have been a little too descriptive, but I wanted to make sure if I had one shot in a million, I just as soon ask for what I really wanted right. Yea, I laughed my ass off too.
It was bedtime and they loved having story time before I tucked them in. With all that done, they were sound asleep in their rooms. As I was walking out, my sister and her husband were walking in. Perfect timing.
“Layla, were the kids good?,” my sister would always ask me.
“Of course Angie, they were angels.”
I bid them good night and left for my house. The ride home was lonely, thinking of my sister and her family brought a bit of jealously. I can admit to being a little jealous; jealous that she had it all and I had nothing.
Sure, I have things in life that are important; my health, a career, a roof over my head and food on my table. For those things I am very thankful, but I feel like a part of me is missing. Looking at those kids and Angie, I knew what it was; I wanted love in my life. It has been a year since my last relationship. It had ended on a very sour note and didn’t leave me too eager to jump back into the dating pool. I did the blind dates with friend's of friends, not successful. I did the double dating, no go there. And living in a small town does not help either, because everyone knows everyone else.  I did it all and could not find him. The one. Guess I was looking too hard, so I gave up looking all together and just embraced life.
The only thing I had going for me was that I left town for a little while, there were some new faces in the community. I had big dreams that the grass was greener on the other side. However, that was so not the case. Life was okay. I graduated from college, got a good job and met a guy, Jake. I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread. We moved in together after dating for a year and it was great. That is, until I found out I was not the only girlfriend he had. Apparently working late nights meant "working" on someone else.
So, I took that as my cue to come home. My parents found me a house to rent; one of their friend's son had moved out of his house and he was looking to rent it out. My Mom put the deposit down to make sure I had a place to stay. Home is where my heart belongs she would always tell me. I settled in my new house, found a job at a local accounting firm and settled back in my life.
After moving back I discovered on Saturdays in the downtown area, there was a farmers market that would open early in the morning. So one weekend, I got out of bed and headed downtown to see what it was all about. Boy, was I glad I did. While I was looking around, I accidentally bumped into this guy. I turned around to apologize and when I looked up I could not believe it, it was Devin Anderson. I had a crush on him the whole time we were in high school. He was a year ahead of me and he was the one all the girls wanted. I didn’t think he would recognize me; we were not that close in high school. Our parents were friends, but he was older than I and therefore a little out of my league. I did not expect him to remember me.
"Sorry, excuse me." With that being said, I turned around to finish shopping when I felt a hand grab my arm. I turned around to see the sexiest smile planted right on Devin's face.
"You don't know how to tell someone hey anymore?"
That voice, oh dear heavens above; apparently things did not change. My stomach felt like a million butterflies were taking flight at that moment, my knees decided to go weak and I won't even talk about lower parts of my body that decided it had been far too long.
    "It's me, Devin."
Did he really think I could ever forget what he looked like?  The man who has haunted my dreams for twelve years. "Of course I recognized you Devin. It's just... I just didn't... I didn’t think you would remember me. I mean, it has been what, almost twelve years." I felt like a damn idiot, stuttering. Not knowing what to say.
"Well I remember you Layla, our parents use to get together all the time."
Did he think he had to remind me? I remember all those times or should I say all the times he would come with them. I mean, who wanted to hang out with a lower classmate and a girl at that.
"So, how have you been? What's been going on? Where you living at these day? I heard you moved away as soon as you graduated."
Wow, the man sure had some questions and I was trying to get my head out of the gutter and clear my thoughts to answer. "I've been good. I did move out after high school. Tried my hands at a couple of things, learned a couple of things and decided home was where I belong. So, I moved into a little rental house off Cedar Street and I am staying there till I get on my own feet. How about you?"
Looking over his shoulder to see something or someone, "Maybe we could get together for lunch or something. You know, catch up?"
Did he just ask me to lunch?  Okay, hyperventilation time. "Sure, here is my number." I wrote my cell number down for him on a piece of paper I found in my purse and handed it to him. He was fixing to say something when I noticed this tall, thin gorgeous woman walking up to us.
She addressed him. "Devin, I am bored, let's go."
The smile on his face disappeared. Then he just gave me this look, I could not place it; sad, shame, disappointment; whatever it was, it did not suit him. I figured I would save him grace, "It was nice bumping into you Devin. I hope to see you around," and I turned and left wondering if he’d call or would the blond put a stop to it.

Devin was enjoying his life. He graduated at the top of class in college, owned his own consulting company, owned his own home and had a great life. Most people his age were settled down with a wife and kids, but not him. He hadn't found her yet. He was dating this woman, Melinda, but his heart was not in it. He needed to end it, but just did not know how.
It was one of his last few Saturday’s off before "Santa's Shop" opened and he wanted to enjoy it. For the past forty years, his Dad had a little shop downtown that he would convert into "Santa's Shop." His Dad would dress like Santa and have Devin working the counter collecting letters from the town children. Devin knew how much his Dad looked forward to it every year and he loved to watch the faces of the kids he saw come and go in the store. Besides seeing Santa and dropping off the letters, his Dad had tables and chairs for the kids to sit down to write the letters, wish lists or color or whatever they wanted to do. They also had tables and chairs for the parents too.
Devin decided to take Melinda to the farmers market that Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day and just maybe he could find something to redeem his affection towards Melinda. He was not even sure why they were with each other; they had only been dating for six months. When he first met her, she was everything he wanted. Or so he thought. She quickly changed her attitude and her personality; only for the worst.
Within the first fifteen minutes she was ready to go; he could tell by the way she looked down at everything. Finally, he convinced her to stay for another hour and half by bribing her with her favorite coffee shop. On their way out, Devin stopped to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables. He was at the counter paying the clerk when he was bumped. Someone said excuse me, but when he looked around, he could not believe it when he saw her, Layla. Or was that her? She was turning away from him; without even thinking he turned to grab her arm. When he turned her around, he could not believe his eyes; it was her. He had known this woman for most of his life and probably lusted after her the whole time too. He did not think he was good enough for her then, but now, now is different. He found the courage and talked to her.
Thanks to Melinda for ruining that for him. She was not even polite to Layla. Granted she did not know her, but no hello, hi, I’m so and so; nothing. She was rude and that is one trait of hers that was really starting to piss him off. On they way home, he told her it was over.

It has been a few weeks since I ran into Devin and I have to admit that I am a little disappointed that he hadn’t called, I didn’t know his situation with the blond but I found myself wondering about it more and more. Am I that lonely or did he really stir something that deep within me? These thoughts were getting me nowhere; I just tucked them aside and went about my life. That was the easy part, now if I could just get him out of my dreams. The dreams I had in the past years were not as bad as the dreams now. Seeing him again which killed me and started the dreams hotter than ever.
It was the first Saturday of the month and it was “Santa’s Shop” grand opening day. The kids had been asking Angie all week to take them there to bring their letters. They wanted to make sure Santa got them early; so he knew they were good children. There was no way Angie was going to make it from work, to the house, then to the shop. She did the best next thing, she called me. Five minutes later, I arrived at Angie’s house to pick up the kids. Before loading the kids in the car, Lexie made sure to grab the letters. Letters in hand, we headed out the door.
Fifteen minutes to spare and not many people left in the store left me feeling very thankful. That meant no fussy children nor pushy, aggravated adults. We walked up to the counter and I was greatly surprised by who greeted us, Devin.
    “Welcome to…”…”Layla."
Wow, I had a store named after me. I couldn't help but giggle. "Devin, it is nice to see you again," I said with a snickering voice. I think our eyes were doing more talking than we were because Lexie made it known why we were there.
Clearing her throat, "Excuse me sir,"  Lexie not being shy at all, “I am here to drop off our letters to Santa. Can you please make sure he gets them.”
This is what the job was all about to Devin, “Sure can, I will even stamp them myself.”
That was all Lexie needed hear. “Thank you very much sir. Are you one of Santa’s helpers?,” Lexie wanted to know, just to make sure.
Devin gave her his biggest smile, “I sure am.”
“Okay, thank you very much.” Now she turned her attention to me. “Nana Layla, we can go now, that man said he would make sure Santa gets our letters," Lexie stated as she tugged on my hand.
“Wait,” Devin quickly looked down at the letters to get the little one’s name, “Ms. Lexie, would you like to color something for Santa. We have a lot of different things on the tables over there. I am sure your brother would love to color something too.” He was buttering up Lexie to stay. But why?  I was sure Ms. Tall, Blond and Gorgeous was waiting for him at home.
Lexie looked up to me, “Nana Layla, do you mind if we color a picture for Santa, please.” She knew how to make my heart melt.
“Devin, are you sure. I know you are about to close in a few minutes.”  I was trying to give him an out to having to stay late. No one liked staying late for work. He walked over to the window and flipped the sign to “CLOSED” and locked the door. “Now, you have the shop all to yourselves,” Devin announced. That made Lexie’s day.
While they colored, we sat at the adult tables and chit chatted. “Thank you for letting them color Devin, you didn’t have to.”
“Are you kidding me, I love doing this,” he responded with a  hitch in his voice. His eyes were telling me a different story than just usual chit chat. His ran his fingers around the collar of his shirt, I began to wonder how those fingers would feel running along my thighs.
Finished with their coloring, it was time to go. I had to pull my thoughts together and out of the gutter, I had to muster up enough clear emotion to say good-bye. “It was nice catching up with you Devin.” Even though we did not talk about life altering things, it was nice to just sit and talk to someone who was older than 7 year olds.
I went to grab Lexie and Matthew’s hand to walk outside when I heard him say, “Layla, would you like to have supper with me this evening?”
I almost choked. “Devin, I um… I don’t know if that is a good idea.” And with that he gave me a puzzled look. Was his woman a figment of my imagination? “What about your lady friend you had with you the last time I saw you?” You could see the look of recognition register on his face.
“Oh, her. Yea, well, she moved on with her life.”
“Oh, in that case, that would be great.” What the fuck was she thinking walking away from a guy like this. Whatever, her lost. We worked out the details and left the store. I brought the kids home to Angie and Doug. Then I went home to get ready for the date of my life.

Devin locked the door behind Layla as she left. He was excited to clean up and pick up the letters so he could go get ready for his date with Layla. How long had he waited for a night like this. He was besides himself. He cleaned up the tables and went to the counter to pick up the letters that Layla’s niece and nephew had dropped off when he noticed it. It was a letter to Santa, but it was from Layla. Should he read it or should he put it with the rest of the Santa letters? He tucked the letter in his back pocket for later. He deposited the other letters where they needed to go and locked up the shop. It was time to go home.
When Devin got there, he opened the fridge and took out a beer. It was a long day and the night was only going to get better. He was emptying his pockets to take a shower when he felt the envelope. He took the letter out and just stared at it for a few minutes. Should he read it? What harm would there be in knowing what Layla wanted from Santa?  With that thought, he decided to open it. He started to read the letter and his mouth hit the counter. He could not believe what he was reading. She was looking for a man. Not just any man, she listed exactly what she wanted in that man. And since it was a letter to Santa Claus, he imagined she wanted it all. How much could he fulfill he wondered. Now he was nervous. He had a sneak peek into her personal world and he liked what he saw. But what would she say if she knew he peeked.
How could he look at her in the same way; knowing some of her most private thoughts. He knew he had to tell her before he saw her tonight. He decided to the gentleman thing and call her. Just to clear the air about it. That was it, that was his story and he was sticking to it. So, he dialed her number and waited.
“Hello.” Her sexy, sultry and husky voice answered the phone and he was lost for words.
“Layla, this is Devin” Silence. Devin could swear he could hear the crickets in the background, that was how quiet it was.
“Hey Devin, I thought you were coming over.” She sounded lost.
Devin had to think quick, he could feel he her confusion, “I um, I was calling to say that um… I was not sure if you were aware that (no guts, no glory was in his head) you had a letter to Santa in the batch with Lexie and Matthew‘s letter.” Silence again, damnit.
“Oh damnit to hell. Devin, um, please tell me you did not deposit mine into the sea of letters for your Dad?”
He could almost see her blushing on the other end of the phone. “No, of course not. That is why I am calling you. I was not sure this was meant for him.”
Whew, “Good, because it was meant for a Santa alright, just not that Santa.”
Disappointment filled his heart, what if she was seeing someone and this was her way of telling him what she wanted from him. But then why did she accept dinner with him? Well, if they were too dumb to see what was right in front of them, then they were the stupid ones. If you don’t take chances in life, how will you ever get anything. Here he goes, “Did you have a certain Santa in mind? Because I happen to know a Santa that would love to fulfill those wishes?” Please let her say yes, please let her say yes, please let her say yes.
“Well, if you happen to know one, why don’t you tell me where I might find this Santa. I would love to sit on his lap and tell him all my wishes for Christmas,” her voice was getting him harder by the minute.
“I tell you what, if you are a good girl, I will let you sit on my lap and you can tell me all your hearts desire.” This is too good to be true Devin thought. This can’t be happening.

I was getting hot at just the idea of Devin being my very own Santa. What was I to say to that. I mean I know we hadn’t talked in a long while. We were two consenting adults. Things like this happened in the real world. You know what, I have lead a pretty straight forward life, what is wrong with taking a chance every once in a while. Having a fling, if that was what this was. I am the one that is always taking it slow, playing it careful, always going by the book. Well, I have been screwed over so many times by being the nice one all the time, what is wrong with me being the “bad” girl. And sometimes, we only get one chance, right? And this is a man I had wanted for a very long time.
Okay, ready. “Tell you what Devin, why don’t you come over to my place and we will see what Santa can do for me?” Holy shit, I actually said it out loud.
“You sure about this Layla,” I could hear the concern in his voice; that touched me.
“Yes, I am sure Devin. If you want to be my Santa that is, I would love to have you… over.” I put my best bedroom voice on. Let’s see what his call is going to be. I think that was so sweet of him to ask me if I was sure. Giving me the option to call it quits on the game we are playing. But there was no backing down now. I was invested up to my ass in this and wanted it more than anything.
“I am coming right over,” Devin was nearing panting the words out. “I’ll see you in about fifteen minutes.”
Wow, I never asked him where he lived, but it must be close to me. Well, I better hurry and change; at least into something a little sexier than lounge clothes. Now that the “date” had changed, the clothing needed to be appropriate too. I also polished off the glass of wine I was sipping on, just for a little bit of extra courage. Shit, is that the door bell… damnit . He must have done a hundred the whole way here. Well, I will just have to greet him like this, black lace panties and matching bra.
Devin rang the door bell. When I opened the door, his reaction was priceless. His mouth hit the floor. I reached out to grab his hand, I did not want to stand in front of my front door clad only in my best undies. I couldn’t help but notice his hands were sweaty, his stomach was making strange noises and from the wide eyed look on his face, his heart had to be beating a thousand beats a minute. Obviously he had no idea what to expect when I opened the door. I almost laughed at his lost expression but one look south halted my reaction.
“Darlin‘, this only happens in my dreams. Never have I ever envisioned any woman answering the door in just her lingerie, looking this hot.”
Devin came straight towards me, wrapped his arms around my waist, closed the door with his foot and twirled me around and shoved me up against the door. His eyes found mine. He wanted to make sure I still wanted this, whatever this was. He was looking for something to tell him no. He saw nothing but a mirror of his own desire. Both of us silently agreeing. Devin’s mouth immediately sought mine out. He kissed with his own accord. He was sweet and tender, then rough and passionate. His hands worked all along my back, up and down. My hands were framing his face and my fingers found their way to his hair.
“You sure you want this Layla. I would never do anything you do not want me to do.” Obviously Devin was attempting to get out in one sentence, but couldn’t. “I know we have known each other for a long time, but not really known each other…” He was trying to make sense.
I didn’t want to make sense, “Devin,” I was trying for the life of me get this out but my body was overriding my thinking and my lips kept founding his making it hard to talk. “the bedroom is to your left.”
No further instructions were needed. He picked me up and carried me in his arms into my bedroom. He went to lay me on the bed and started getting undressed. I took that moment to sit up. He must have thought something was wrong, because his eyes went wide. “Nothing is wrong, but remember I told you I was going to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him all I desired.”
His eyes relaxed and he smiled that gorgeous smile of his. I was already wet from his kissing, that smile just melted my sex even more.
“Instead, I’m going to sit on Santa’s lap and show him all my wildest desires.”
Devin’s smile could not have gotten any bigger if he had Mick Jagger’s lips.
“Oh really, so what is it you want to show me? Have you been a naughty girl or a good girl?”
“Oh Santa, I think I have been very naughty. Allow me to show you just how naughty I have been.”
As he finished undressing, I allowed him to get seated on the edge of my bed before I straddled his lap facing him. He rested his palms on my waist, not knowing exactly what to do first. I bent down and trailed my tongue against his bottom lip. It was begging for attention. Then I nipped at it with my teeth, biting it softly. I heard him hiss as I did that and I also felt his cock rise another notch up. If that was possible. I kissed him sweetly on the nose, working my way past his checks to his ears. I could feel his hands softly going up and down my back, he was getting there.
“Santa, what do you do with naughty girls,” I whispered in his ear on raged breath.

 Embracing Midnight
Review by Lucia
3.5/5 Whips

The main characters in Embracing Midnight left a lot to be desired and the story, while developed, sophisticated and detailed, was wholly unbelievable and entirely out of this realm. The story begins on an FBI stake out, of a suspected pimp and sex trader, the story develops into something completely different.
I would have accepted the sexual vampire story.  I could have accepted the alien life force story.   Both together?  Not so much. Combined with a government conspiracy and some international espionage, as well as a ring of sexually sadistic slayings, it became too much.

Parts of the book became extremely uncomfortable to read, one of which was the rape scene and others being scenes involving other members of the government conspiracy. The story felt like it needed to simmer down, it needed time to reduce.
The two main characters I came to feel a significant amount for.  I wanted to help them, I wanted them to succeed.  However everything else in the story became too much and it overpowered the relationship between the two of them.  Their story became lost in the sea of this ever-growing story around them. Combine that with a pseudo rape scene, Embracing Night made this reader want something more and or better for the hero and heroine.  Overall I did enjoy the book, I just wished that many parts of it were different, or were not nearly as involved or convoluted as they became.

Reviewer Phoebe Jordan Tells All

Terry Kate: I would like to welcome the fabulous reviewer Ms. Phoebe Jordan to the Backseat.  Phoebe tell us a little about your blog?

Phoebe: LOL, thanks Terry for having me on your blog. Talk About My Favorite Authors is my review blog that I started about a year ago when I first started getting into blogging. It started out as a group blog with several ladies I met on a romance author forum. That kind of failed big time since I was the only one who was posting reviews and these reviews were for books that I've read for pleasure. I review various genres of romance novels, erotic romance, m/m erotic romance, mystery/thriller, sci-fi/fantasy and young adult novels. I also interview authors and have authors guest blog as well on my review blog to spice things up.

TK: So you enjoy some of the hot stuff, what is the appeal?

Phoebe: Yes, I enjoy some of the hot stuff. I've only recently gotten into reading erotic romance and m/m erotic romance when I was asked to review Keta Diablo's Land of Falling Stars. Keta introduced me into the genre and has really broadened me to more erotic romance authors who I've come to really enjoy. The appeal for some of the hot stuff is that they are just like the romance novels we love to read, but it takes it up a notch on the hot steamy scenes between the hero and heroines that makes you want more. Also erotic romance and m/m erotic romance novels are just as fun to read the other romance genres though a lot of people think it's more smut than anything else which is funny because romance novels were thought of as smut books as well a long time ago before it sort of became main stream.

TK: Too true. What kind of feedback have you gotten from blog readers? Do they seem to like the new and spicy books you are reading?

Phoebe: I don't get that many comments on my blog but the ones that I have gotten have been pretty good since they say things like the books sound interesting, or I will have to check it out some time. So I'm thinking that my readers must be liking them a bit if they leave comments like that.

TK: One last question before you run off and be a busy reviewer. What is your favorite part of the process?

Phoebe: Well my favorite part of the process is reading the fabulous novels that I've had the pleasure of receiving to review. I love that I've been introduced to so many new different romance authors who have been in touch with me about reviewing their books. I also like the part where when I give a fabulous review for an authors book they send their thanks, but I always thank them back for writing such a wonderful novel.
It was wonderful chatting with you Terry!

TK: Phoebe - as always a pleasure. Make sure you visit Phoebe's blog - Talk About My Favorite Authors

All I Want and More - An Interview with Cecile

Now not to sure how it happened but one day I came across the most fabulous blog All I Want and More, and made the most fabulous friend.  The internet does make magic.
She sat down with me from about 1,500 miles away and did a little interview - See what goes on in the mind of a reviewer.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Backseat Cecile. I want to share with everyone about your terrific blog.
Dish out your dirty secrets!
All I Want And More: Oh I am loving this up... this is going to be good.
Okay, a little about my blog...
Well, My new name is Ms. Cecile Smutty Hussy... I am a hussy at heart. So, my blog is full of romance and smutty men that take my heart away!
TK: Where did the All I Want and More come from?
All: When I started blogging, I noticed that every one had this cute catchy titles. And the more I started thinking about what I wanted to call my little place... it hit me "all i want and more..." is what I want from my books.
And it stuck with me. The more I thought about a title, that one just stayed with me.
TK: So I hear you like the burn your tongue, salsa hot books, with less then ordinary heros?  What is the appeal?
All: OMG... My Sex On A Stick Men!!! They are something else. They are tortured beyond comprehension from the regular male. They are not too cocky, but very sure of themselves. They know what they want out and in a woman, but know how to be gentle enough about it. They live with all they have, they love with every fiber in them and they fight just as hard. They are convicted by their morals and values. Sometimes, they are a bit rough around the edges, but it takes a woman to make them melt. And they come in all shapes and sizes... And.... *cough cough* All sorts of bodies... Pure male, pure alpha, vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter... I love them all!
TK: Oh my, I think you are steaming up the back windows all on your own.
All: Lmao... Tell me about it, my doctor wants to put me on high blood pressure medicine and medication for hot flashes, lmao!
She just doesn't understand it is all about my men!
TK: So we all like to read about alpha males, write about alpha males, fantasize about alpha males, but very very few of us want to live with one.
All: LMAO... I just say, "Bring it on!" I live with one everyday... So, my fantasy man needs to be just as Alpha, just as Male and just as sexy!
TK: Are you married to a shapshifting Vampire or something?
All: Well, after this past weekend (daughter's costume party) I believe I live with a Vampire. He is always trying to bite me ~ so I think he is a vampire. And besides, he sees my lust after Edward... So, he knows he has competition. (**whisphers, just don't tell me him that, lol**)
TK: So I have heard it said you like a bit of man meat on the cover of you naughty novels, well all your novels really.
All: Oh my.. *Blushes* Yea, I am a cover hussy. I love to see a hot guy on the cover. I love the whole package picture, but I will take the face cut off (even though I am not a big fan of those... give me something...) And I am hearing that the back of these men is the new "in" thing. Just give me some skin. I am not excluding women either... Give me a cover with a hot guy... in a romantic post with a cute girl and yea, I will buy that one too... But I love my men!
TK: Well Cecile thank you for sharing your deep dark secrets here today!
All: You are more than welcome! I love being in the backseat *wink wink*!
TK: Naughty naughty blogger you!
I am scandalized!
All: Naughty is the new nice! LOL!!!

Pink Buttercream Frosting - Book Review

For anyone who does not know, this is the fabulous book that inspired 9 days of giveaways here on Naughty in the Backseat.  Find out more about this Cupcake Scavenger Hunt - Here

 PINK BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
BY LISSA MATTHEWS

Aidn Greer is a much-sought-after Dominant in the BDSM lifestyle with an unusual problem. He hasn’t owned a submissive in more years than he cares to think about. He’s bored with unchallenging women, yet mentoring other Doms and training subs has left him cold as well. He’s craving something other than plain old vanilla—a taste of something sinfully sweet that, for once, he can really sink his teeth into.

Professional cake baker Bailey Harris wasted ten years bored to tears with her marriage, enduring a job she hated, and harboring a secret desire for something passionate, fulfilling and dark. Then she found it…in the world of BDSM. Exploring on her own brought the kind of mind-opening experiences that led her to declare her independence—and exposed a yearning to find the one Dom for whom she’s willing to kneel. Permanently.

When Aidn and Bailey meet, it’s fire and ice. Sugar and spice. And an experience that satisfies every detail of both their fantasies. Almost. While the big, beautiful sub is everything Aidn wanted, her fierce independent streak could be more of a challenge than he bargained for…

REVIEW BY -  LUCIA SARTO
4.5/5

I cannot even be coy about this review, so here it goes, CAUTION: Pink Buttercream Frosting is one of the HOTTEST BOOKS I have ever read. Do not read this at work, you will embarrass yourself.

Pink Buttercream Frosting is the story of a Dominant who has been disillusioned with love and relationships, who sees an unlikely candidate for his love, and fights his passion for her, fights the draw, fights his feelings, while simultaneously staking his claim. Both characters have been burned in the past, and their draw to each other, their emotional scars make them more realistic as characters as does their obvious reluctance to open up emotionally to each other, however their clear chemistry and undeniable passion makes this one of the steamiest books I have read recently. With this one book, Lissa Matthews has made a fan out of me. She has managed to take the difficult to write about world of BDSM and turned it into an amazingly hot, easily understood situation for everyone involved. Simply put, an amazingly well developed story, super hot interactions, and realistically flawed characters make you root for everyone involved.

Interview with Amber Green - Naughty... or Nice...

Goody, goody, or should I say naughty, naughty.  I would like to welcome Erotic Author Amber Green to the Backseat.

AG:  Thank you!
My husband says he likes the sound of that.

TK:  So your name is very colorful - does your writing match?
Hello to Mr Green too.

AG:  I hope so.  I love words.  My most recent work in print is a short novella More Than Memories, a story of the Living Stones.  Dick is an ass. Harry's anal. Obviously, they're made for one another. But scruples, and an unscrupulous vampire, come between them. What's a ghost with a geek-fetish to do?  This was my attempt at writing a story that would give the reader the same emotional overload combined with intellectual disjunction that one might get from watching Pulp Fiction. Unfortunately, something odd happened in the formatting.  And, since it's print, it's not easy to fix.  Other most recent is One Good Turn, first in the Turner & Turner stories.  It's not paranormal at all.  It's the story of Kendall Turner, who has only one person he can count on--Turner Scott.  But what does he do when the evidence seems to reflect Turner Scott can't be counted on?

TK:  You do like to play with words don't you?

AG:  I used to spend time reading dictionaries when I was a kid.

TK:  ME TOO!

AG:  One of my favorite possessions used to be the two-volume OED.

TK:  We have this great Dictionary from the 70's that my dad tried to throw it out once - buying a new one.  Mom and I kicked his butt then sat him down and made him compare the two.  Not all dictionaries are created equal.  Old one won.

AG:  I hear you.  Right now I'm working on a story set in the Harlem Renaissance.  It's requiring rather a lot of research, but that's half the fun anyway.

TK:  So in your books- sounds like it is all about the boys?

AG:  Not in all of them.
The Harlem story is about a young woman who enters a threesome with a pair of guys.  My Huntsmen series with Loose Id has two m/f/m stories (Lights Out! and Backtrack)  and one m/m (Bareback).  Bareback caught rather a lot of flack because it centered on a bisexual and a man who had never faced the fact he had gay leanings.
Bareback remains my favorite story, though. It was so much fun to write--like when Joe is staring at a display of yogurts and wondering if he has to like yogurt now.  He tastes one, and decides it's still mayonnaise-flavored pudding.
I had a whole list of gay stereotypes, and managed to work every single one of them into the plot.
I love hiding Easter eggs in a story like that.

TK:  So does Mr. Green read your books?

AG:  He will read a scene at a time, though he isn't into the guy-on-guy sex.  I use his reactions to gauge the effectiveness of a scene.  If he doesn't get a joke, probably too many readers will miss it.  If he says "Great. Write more!" I know it needs more work.  If his breathing rate speeds up and he starts rattling the down key like that will make more lines appear, then slings off and says "Write MORE!" I know the scene's about ready to post for my crit group.

TK:  How big a role do your critique partners play in your decisions with a story?

AG:  I have a crit group, http://www.erauthors.org/  This gives me more pre-beta readers, each with less of a time or emotional investment than an actual crit partner might have.  They've inspired new stories (like Backtrack) but their role is mostly in telling me how to reach my goals.  (The lady who used to have her own Seeing Eye dog did talk me out of killing off a heroine's guide dog once.)  Others have helped with accents, or the mechanics of singing, or the scents and emotional feel of an area.  They enrich my writing in countless ways.

TK: So how hot are your books - if they were salsa what salsa would they be?

AG: Hmm... I'd have to say it varies. Most of them are quite graphic. I like a sex scene to explain where the characters are, both inside their own heads and in relation to each other. That requires a lot of work: choosing which details to mention, which to omit, and which to wallow in. I also have to watch the words a character would use. Do you want a sample? Loose Id picked part of a sex scene (part of Lorie's first sexual experience) as the excerpt for Lights Out!
I have pg-rated excerpts on my own website at http://www.shapeshiftersinlust.com/

TK: Amber Green thank you so much for taking the time to climb into the Backseat!

AG:  Thank you for asking me!

On the Road to RomantiCon - by Kathy Kulig

Getting Ready for Writing Conferences

When Terry asked me to guest blog and write about what it’s like to get ready for a writers conference, my first thought was INSANE. I’m looking at stacks of papers spread out on my dining room table that need to be stapled—hand outs for one conference where I’m presenting a workshop. Upstairs, several loads of laundry need to be folded. I just returned from a vacation less than a week ago, so I dumped out my suitcase and started repacking it. Authors need to bring promo items to give away at book signings and leave on swag tables. I made some excerpt booklets myself to save a few bucks. Thankfully, I’ve been making them up all summer. I’m trying to condense the items into two small bags. Since I’m driving two other EC authors to RomaniCon, Cris Anson and Kathleen Coddington, luggage space will be limited. I also need to bring my laptop to squeeze in some writing time. Oh, and I guess it would be a good idea to practice the workshop I’m presenting so I sound like I know what I’m talking about. Let’s see, six and a half hour drive into Ohio, I’m driving, hmmm. Guess my passengers will have to listen to a lecture about Screenwriting for Novel Writers. It’ll help pass the time.

This month—I’m going to two conferences: RomantiCon Ellora’s Cave’s first Convention on October 9-12th (www.jasminejade.com/romanticon) and New Jersey Romance Writer’s PYHIAB Conference October 23-24 (www.njromancewriters.org).
For NJRW, I need to bring my own books to sign and I just had one (WILD JADE, Cerridwen Press) come out in print Wednesday. Yeah, rush order for NJRW, yikes. The folks at Ellora’s Cave are probably ready to hang me, placing an order for author’s copies days before RomantiCon.

Packing. Ha! Packing for writer’s conference can be quite interesting. Not just business casual clothes. At some conferences you may need to include items such as: purple lace corset, vampire satin cape, faery wings, 5-inch come-f**k-me-heels, faery dust body and hair glitter, etc. And if you go to Dragoncon, the costumes get even more elaborate.

I love writer’s conferences. They’re great fun. I get to meet readers, writers and other publishing professionals. I’ve learned so much through the various workshops and panels and made wonderful friends. Checking out the hot cover models is another perk too. If you’re going to either of these conferences please stop by my table at the book signing. You don’t have to buy a book, just say hi!

What’s Your Ultimate Sexual Fantasy? - Stephanie Julian

What’s your ultimate sexual fantasy?
No, don’t answer right away. Think about it for a few minutes.
Let it roll around in your brain and gather steam.
Why? Because the question begs some internal discussion.
How far are you willing to go to fulfill it? And when you do, what’s next?
Maybe some fantasies are better when they remain just that. There’s no let-down, no regrets, no recriminations.
That’s why I love writing erotic romance. Because those ultimate sexual scenarios that tie your brain in knots when presented with reality are the perfect way to spend a few hours wrapped in a book.
When I conceived of the Magical Seduction series, I knew I wanted to explore as many erotic situations as possible. My first six stories are straight male/female, the bread and butter of romance.
But for the seventh, I wanted that ultimate sexual fantasy.
So a ménage was definitely in the cards.
As a reader, I love the fantasy presented by ménage. Two (or more) hot guys dedicated to the pleasure of one woman, how could that be bad?
In “Seduced by Two,” Nica Donato meets Tanner and Jensen Miller and, though she doesn’t realize at first what’s in store for her, she embraces the adventure. And the brothers.
As a strega, an Etruscan witch, Nica is a descendent of the once-mighty Etruscan magical civilization. She controls a powerful magic that must be kept hidden from the non-magical world. She’s also about to take her mother’s place in their boschetta (coven) and give up all notion of a normal life.
When she walks into that bar, she’s looking for a release, an escape. And finds the ultimate pleasure and the ultimate romance with two men.
That meant two hot heroes for me to create. Two strong men with very different personalities, both of whom need compelling reasons to share the same woman.
For me, a ménage is like a teeter-totter, with a man on either side and a woman balancing in the middle. It’s quite a ride when you get all the logistics worked out.
And an ultimate fantasy.
So what’s yours?

Stephanie Julian is the author of the Magical Seduction series, beginning with Seduced by Magic and continuing with Seduced by Two, available from Ellora’s Cave. She’s a writer with a reading problem, though some days, it’s the other way around. Her series has gotten great reviews, which you can see on her website at  www.stephaniejulian.com
